The Transport Department urges the public to monitor traffic conditions in West Kowloon, Central and Sheung Shui on October 20 due to public processions.

A car procession will be conducted in two batches. Dozens of cars will leave Cheung Sha Wan at 3pm for the Central ferry piers via the Western Harbour Crossing. They will stay at the piers until the evening peak hours before returning to Cheung Sha Wan through the same crossing and proceeding to Sheung Shui.

The second batch of vehicles will depart Cheung Sha Wan at 3.30pm for Central via the same crossing. They will drive around Central.

The department expects traffic in Central, the piers and along Hong Kong Island North to be busier than normal. Serious traffic congestion might occur and car queues will take longer to disperse. It advises drivers not to drive to the affected or congested areas.

More than 90 Hong Kong Island and cross-harbour bus routes, 19 Hong Kong Island green minibus services and tram services will be affected. Passengers should pay attention to the suspension and relocation of stops due to route diversions.

Depending on the traffic situation Police may induce ad hoc traffic and transport management measures within a short period of time. The public should monitor traffic news reports.
