The Transport & Housing Bureau has proposed building a direct route connecting Tai Sang Wai to Castle Peak Road (Tam Mi section) to relieve traffic at the junction of Fairview Park Boulevard and Kam Pok Road in Yuen Long.
The plan, gazetted today, will start in the second quarter of 2011 for completion in the fourth quarter of 2012.
The works include:
* constructing a new section of single two-lane carriageway 490m long and 10.3m wide with associated footpaths 2m wide connecting Kam Pok Road to Castle Peak Road (Tam Mi);
* improving a private section of Kam Pok Road 145m long (east of Pok Wai South Road) to a single two-lane carriageway of 10.3m wide with footpaths 2m wide;
* upgrading a private road 155m long between Yau Pok Road and Man Yuen Road to a single two-lane carriageway of 7.3m wide with footpaths 2m wide;
* constructing sections of cycling tracks 360m long and 3.5m wide; and,
* ancillary works including drainage, water supplies, slope and landscaping, construction of vertical noise barriers and lighting.
The plan is available for inspection at the Central & Western and Yuen Long District Offices' Public Enquiry Service Centres, and the Yuen Long District Lands Office.
Anyone wishing to object to the works should write to the Secretary for Transport & Housing, 16/F Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, by November 24.
