$204m pipe-upgrade contract awarded

Water Supplies Department

The Water Supplies Department has awarded a $204 million contract for the replacement and rehabilitation of 18km of aged water mains in Kwun Tong, Kowloon City, Wong Tai Sin, San Po Kong and To Kwa Wan.

 

The contract, to be completed in 2013, is the 12th of the 14 contracts to be awarded under Stage 3 of the citywide water mains replacement and rehabilitation programme. 

 

The Stage 3 works, covering replacement and rehabilitation of 800km of water mains, is scheduled for completion by 2013.

 

The whole programme, covering replacement and rehabilitation of 3,000km of water mains, is scheduled to be completed by 2015 and will create 7,200 jobs in the construction industry, of which 1,950 are for the Stage 3 works.
