The Highways Department is inviting tenders for the design, management, operation, installation and maintenance of Hong Kong Island's and Lamma Island's public lighting system for four years, from this October to September 2013.
Tender submissions should be placed at the Government Secretariat tender box on the lower ground floor lift lobby of the Central Government Offices, East Wing, 20 Lower Albert Road, Hong Kong. The deadline is noon on July 31.
The public lighting system generally covers lighting for conventional roads, villages, gantry and roadside directional signs, traffic bollards, footbridges, subways, covered walkways, ferry concourses and tram shelters, and the related network of cables, ducts and peripheral items.
Within the designated contract area, there are about 18,200 road lighting points, 1,900 traffic bollards, 200 illuminated gantry and roadside directional signs, 110 footbridges and subways, and 120 covered walkways, ferry concourses and tram shelters.
The tender is covered by the World Trade Organisation's Agreement on Government Procurement. The department will supervise the contract.
