The Transport Complaints Unit received 5,475 complaints and suggestions from July 1 to September 30, up 8.1% on the previous quarter and 0.6% on the same quarter last year.
The complaints and suggestions were mostly related to public transport services (81%), enforcement matters (12%) and traffic conditions (4%).
The number of cases on public transport services grew 12.2% to 4,403. Complaints and suggestions on traffic conditions fell from 256 to 229. Cases on road maintenance grew from 69 to 100, while illegal parking and other enforcement matters fell from 733 to 667.
All complaints and suggestions received have been referred to the relevant authorities and departments.
Investigations into 4,955 cases found 59% to be substantiated, 9% were unsubstantiated, and the remaining 32% not pursuable due to lack of information. For the substantiated cases the government departments and public transport operators concerned have either taken steps to rectify the situation or are considering solutions. They took on board 34 suggestions to enhance transport services and improve traffic conditions.
