Ngong Ping 360 urged to improve notification
*

Ngong Ping 360 management have been asked to review its service suspension notification system to minimise inconvenience to the public and visitors.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Frederick Ma today met with the company to investigate why cable-car services failed to resume on June 22.

The Government expressed grave concern the company was unable to inform the public and visitors in a timely manner of its service suspension, and considered there is room for improvement in terms of the notification arrangement.

In preparation for the annual examination of the cable-car service the operator should notify the public of the times the service will stop and resume. It should make a public announcement before 5pm a day ahead of the service resumption.

The Government is aware the operator may need to take immediate follow-up action in view of the results of the annual examination, and that the examination may not be completed on time which will delay the re-opening of the cable-car service.

Under such circumstances it must liaise with Government departments immediately to work out follow up action, and make public announcements on the service suspension. The company has agreed to the arrangement.
