Tai O slope repairs to finish in August
*

Geotechnical Engineering Office Chief Geotechnical Engineer Au Yeung Yan-sang says the repair works to the slopes in Tai O Village will be completed in two months.

Speaking on a radio talk show this morning, Mr Au Yeung said the office will learn from the experience of the June 7 rainstorm and review the situation of the affected natural slopes. The experience will help the office improve its future slope maintenance works.

Assistant Director of Highways Chu Kin-hong said the land transport in Tai O has almost resumed normal. One of the lanes in a section of Keung Shan Road damaged by the rainstorm has reopened for one-lane, two-way traffic at 10am on June 20 and the traffic situation has been satisfactory so far.

When asked when the section will fully reopen, Mr Chu said a decision will be made after the Geotechnical Engineering Office finishes its assessment.

The office will inspect the slopes in the coming two weeks to see which parts of the slopes need to be repaired.
