Tai O - Ngong Ping bus service resumes

*
Home Affairs Department

Water supply to the villages near Tai O has resumed normal, the Islands District Office says. Tai O Road has reopened to public and the bus between Tai O and Ngong Ping is offering limited service.

The villages include Shum Wat Village, Sheung Keung Shan, Ha Keung Shan, Tai Long Wan Village and Sha Lo Wan.

The flooding and mudslip conditions of in Tai O did not worsen today. All 22 people from 12 families who lived in 31 houses affected by dangerous slopes have resettled voluntarily.

Repair works on Keung Shan Road are ongoing, with a temporary traffic lane provided for engineering and emergency vehicles, and cars transporting relief materials.

Civil Aid Service staff and volunteers from the disciplinary services are visiting Tai O villages to offer aid when necessary.

Residents affected by the recent rainstorms who have financial difficulties may apply to the Islands District Office for emergency relief funds.

Up to tonight, there have been 75 landslide reports since last Friday's rainstorms began. Flooding reports stood at 78.

For tomorrow, the Tai O - Ngong Ping bus will depart Tai O at 9am, 1.50pm and 6.30pm. It will leave Ngong Ping at 8.15am, 1.10pm and 5.15pm.
