The Hong Kong, Guangdong and Shenzhen governments will support eight applied research and development projects under a new category introduced this year under the Hong Kong-Guangdong Technology Co-operation Funding Scheme.
Projects will be funded jointly by the Hong Kong and Guangdong, or Shenzhen, authorities. The eight supported projects have requested about $63.5 million.
Twenty-four applications were received by the October 22 deadline. A joint committee comprising officials from the Hong Kong and Guangdong-Shenzhen sides has vetted them. The Hong Kong side has asked for about $38 million.
The supported projects are under the technology areas of energy-saving and new energy vehicles; white LED core technologies with high-power efficiency; core technologies for radio-frequency identification, and integrated circuits.
