The total number of Digital Trade & Transportation Network transactions soared to 34,046 in January-November, 10 times more than all of last year, Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng says.
Replying to a lawmaker's query in the Legislative Council today, Ms Cheng said so far 1,118 customers have registered with the network since its launch in January last year. Of the customers, 25.6% related to garment and textiles, 21.7% computer hardware, 12.4% general trading and 11% carriers and forwarders. There are also 2,117 indirect customers who are connected to the network through its interconnected service providers.
Ms Cheng said the number of transactions processed through the network is rising, with the total number of transactions processed since its launch at 37,444. It processed 9,413 transactions last month, a daily average of 314.
The network transforms the document structure from the sender's format to the recipient's format. For information security reasons the network does not access the content, including the transaction value, of the document during the transformation process.
