Traffic signal telecom service contract awarded

*
Transport Department

The Transport Department has awarded a $29.9 million contract to PCCW-HKT Telephone to offer telecommunication services for the area traffic control system in Tuen Mun and Yuen Long.

The system's traffic-signal equipment at about 250 signalised junctions in the two districts will be progressively installed from mid-2007 for completion in late 2008.  Telecoms circuits are required for connecting the traffic signal controllers on streets to the traffic control centre.

The contract comprises the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the telecom circuits and the provision of five-year leased services of the circuits.
