Mong Kok Road nullah decking works
Pleasant provision: The Drainage Services Department has completed the decking of the Mong Kok Road nullah.
*

The Drainage Services Department has completed the $3-million decking works on the Mong Kok Road nullah, providing a more pleasant environment.

Officiating at the completion ceremony today, Director of Drainage Services Wong Chee-keung said due to the low level of the 33-metre-long nullah, there was a risk that the works might be affected by high tides and stormwater.

"To eliminate the smell and hygiene problem as early as possible, we worked out a drainage diversion scheme with movable stop logs installed in the box culverts so the works could be carried out throughout the wet season, expediting progress," he said.

"We have successfully completed the construction of the box culverts, which replaced the nullah and very much improved the environmental and hygiene conditions in the vicinity. We have also implemented soft landscaping works, which provide greening effects to match an adjacent park and the nearby environment."

The department will build a maintenance depot on the decked area to handle drainage works in the district.
