People who settle outstanding court fines by cheque will have their applications for licensing services processed seven days after their payment, the Transport Department says.

As advised by the Director of Audit, the new measure will bar those using dishonoured cheques to pay fines from licensing and registration services, including driving and vehicle licences and transfer of vehicle ownership.

Cash payments will remain unaffected.
