Permanent Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Lo Yiu-ching has wrapped up his study tour of the Philippines and Cambodia speaking at a dinner reception in Phnom Penh.
At the event he said infrastructure is one of the areas in which Cambodia, the Mainland and Hong Kong can strengthen collaboration.
The rich natural resources of the Greater Mekong Subregion have made it the new frontier of Asian economic growth, with the potential to become one of the world's fastest growing areas, he said.
"With the rapid growth of the economy in Cambodia, the high demand for infrastructure, communications, electricity, transportation and related facilities would bring tremendous opportunities for developers, contractors and consultants."
Mr Lo today visited the country's Minister of Public Works & Transport Sun Chanthol, exchanging views on the infrastructure development in Cambodia, the Mainland and in Hong Kong. They also discussed business opportunities for the construction trade in all three places.
He later met Senior Minister of Commerce Cham Prasidh to learn about the country's economic development.
Mr Lo and his delegation will return to Hong Kong tomorrow.
