The International Conference on Public Service Broadcasting will be held on June 21 at the Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Experts from overseas public broadcasting organisations will share their views on critical matters such as public broadcasters' status, function, funding, governance, accountability and programming.
Before the conference, the overseas experts will also attend panel discussion sessions with local broadcasters, academics and media practitioners for professional exchange.
The overseas speakers will include senior executives from:
* Australian Broadcasting Corporation;
* Special Broadcasting Service from Australia;
* Association of Public Broadcasting Corporations from Germany;
* Japan Broadcasting Corporation;
* British Broadcasting Corporation;
* Channel Four Television from the UK;
* Corporation for Public Broadcasting from USA; and
* WGBH-TV from USA.
Review of Public Service Broadcasting Committee Chairman Raymond Wong said the wise counsel of the overseas invitees will be of great reference value to the committee as it develops recommendations for public service boadcasting development in Hong Kong.
Public invited to attend
"But equally important are the views from the public. Their input is imperative for the committee to come up with recommendations that truly reflect not only what Hong Kong people want, but also what they need in the area of public service boadcasting.
"The committee sincerely invites members of the public to attend," Mr Wong said.
The half-day conference will be open to members of the public free of charge. Registration can be made online at the committee's website; by fax on 3115 1334 or by phone on 2594 0460.
Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The conference programme and speakers list are also available at the committee's website.
