The Housing, Planning & Lands Bureau says the Government has always cooperated with the Legislative Council's Public Accounts Committee and supports its work and will continue to do so.

In response to the statement issued by the committee today, the bureau said the committee had a long history and solid legal basis, and these fundamentals would continue.

The bureau is grateful for the continuous efforts made and time spent by the committee.

Regarding the Sai Wan Ho development, the bureau said the role and functions of the committee and the Government-appointed Independent Committee of Inquiry were different.

Their focuses and remits are different, and there is no question of one body being subordinate to the other.

The inquiry committee was set up to further examine whether the former Building Authority had exercised discretionary powers properly, and to identify areas of improvement.

The Government has already clearly stated its acceptance of the recommendations in the committee's report, and has been following them up actively, the bureau said.
