A review panel on the reporting of East Rail incidents has been formed and will table a report next month, Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao says.
Headed by Herbert Hui, with Stanley Hui, Vincent Lo and Otto Poon as members, the panel will examine the existing reporting mechanism and propose improvements.
Meanwhile, an expert group comprising members from the Railway Inspectorate, the Highways and Electrical & Mechanical Services Departments, as well as an international expert, has been reviewing East Rail problems with underframe equipment.
Noting the Government has received the root-cause report, Dr Liao said the experts will study it in detail to establish firmly that the cause has the basis of scientific support and the proposed measures are effective.
After that, the responsibility and liability issues relating to the incidents will be studied and a report issued next month.
