Well-defined broadcasting policy urged
*

Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology Joseph Wong says Hong Kong needs a well-defined public service broadcasting policy and a review of it will gather a group of independent and professional people to study the issue.

Mr Wong said the issue is important and urged people to express their views to the Review of Public Service Broadcasting Committee. It will help define what Hong Kong needs in a public broadcasting service, the policy, the means of delivery, and how to make service providers accountable.

"This is a very important issue. I think we should give the review body an opportunity, and I think we should really, if you have very strong views on this issue, express them to the review committee," he said.

"The Government, I am afraid, will not be offering any concrete views on this very sensitive subject until the review body has completed its deliberations."
