Slap on the back: Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao commends KCR staff conducting extensive safety repairs.
*

Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao has lauded Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation staff for their work in maintaining safe and reliable East Rail services.

Dr Liao today visited the KCR's Ho Tung Lau Depot to show her support for frontline staff who have been working around the clock to maintain and inspect the East Rail fleet.

"The community has been very concerned with the safe operation of the East Rail since the mounting problem of underframe equipment of trains happened. Frontline staff must have felt the tremendous pressure being focused on them," she said, adding the Government and legislators appreciate their efforts.

She and other officials visited the service pit where more than 100 staff are inspecting trains, were briefed by the management in the control room, and chatted with workers in the canteen.
