The Housing, Planning & Lands Bureau will hold four forums on the public consultation on mandatory building inspection starting November 10.

These meetings are part of the public consultation exercise the bureau launched last month to gauge the community's views on the implementation details of a proposed mandatory building inspection scheme.

Under the scheme, owners of private buildings aged 30 years or above would be required to have qualified inspectors to inspect their buildings every seven years and undertake necessary repairs.

The first forum will be held on Thursday, November 10, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre Theatre.

The second will be held on Thursday, November 24, from 3pm to 5pm at the Hong Kong Space Museum's Lecture Hall.

The third is slated for Tuesday, December 13, from 3pm to 5pm at the North District Town Hall Auditorium.

The last will be on Wednesday, December 21, from 3pm to 5pm, at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Cultural Activities Hall.

Seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration and enquiries can be made by calling 2848 2718 or faxing 2845 3489.

The consultation will last until January 31. The document is available on the websites of the bureau and the Buildings Department.
