Michael Suen to attend Tokyo building conference
*

Secretary for Housing, Planning & Lands Michael Suen will lead a delegation to attend the 2005 World Sustainable Building Conference in Tokyo September 27 to 29.

The trip will promote the development of sustainable building construction in Hong Kong and establish contacts and exchange experience on urban renewal and building control.

Mr Suen will speak during the delegation's presentation on sustainable buildings in Hong Kong. They will cover green building projects like the International Finance Centre II, Hong Kong Wetland Park and a public housing project at Upper Ngau Tau Kok, and the Comprehensive Environmental Performance Assessment Scheme.

Government departments and non-government organisations from Hong Kong will jointly host an exhibition booth showcasing government policies, practices and standards of the industry, and exemplary buildings in Hong Kong.

Mr Suen will also call on the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport and visit the Roppongi Hills Development.

He returns to Hong Kong September 28.
