Progress report: Senior Scientific Officer Sharon Lau presented an update on windshear alerts for Hong Kong International Airport at an international symposium in France in early September.

The World Meteorological Organisation and the International Civil Aviation Organisation will organise an international seminar in Hong Kong from November 22 to 25. It will focus on quality management in providing meteorological services for aviation.

Aviation weather services managers from about 40 countries in the Asia Pacific region are expected to participate. 

Choosing Hong Kong as the venue demonstrates the prominence of the Observatory's aviation weather service in the international meteorological and aviation community.

The Observatory will present its experiences in running its aviation weather services, in particular, in raising service quality.

Observatory at forefront of aviation weather services

As the result of years of dedication to improving service, the Observatory is now at the forefront in aviation weather services.

Observatory Airport Meteorological Office head, Senior Scientific Officer Sharon Lau, is a member of World Meterological Organisation's Management Group of the Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology. 

Ms Lau has just returned from France, where she attended an international symposium on adding value for aviation weather services earlier this month. At the seminar, Ms Lau presented the Observatory's recent progress in windshear alerts at Hong Kong International Airport.
