Tate's Cairn Tunnel traffic falls

Traffic has fallen at Tate's Cairn Tunnel after a toll hike was implemented August 1.

 

The Transport Department said from 6am to 9am there were 8,800 vehicles using the Tate's Cairn Tunnel, down 6% on the previous Monday. Meanwhile, 10,000 vehicles used Lion Rock Tunnel, down 2%.

 

From midnight to 3pm, 29,000 vehicles used Tate's Cairn Tunnel - down 5.5% - while the 45,000-vehicle figure for the Lion Rock Tunnel was similiar to last Monday.

 

The department's Emergency Traffic Co-ordination Centre will monitor the traffic situation.
