$3.5b worth of new buildings ready in June

June saw the approval of 25 building plans, with seven on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories. A total of 32 occupation permits, with a declared cost of about $3.51 billion, were also issued.

 

Of the approved plans, 14 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four for commercial developments, two for factory and industrial developments, and five for community services developments.

 

Consent was given for work to start on 18 building projects. When completed, they will provide 3,619 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 54 units, and 185,813 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 13 building projects.

 

The department also issued 32 occupation permits - eight on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and 20 in the New Territories. The gross floor areas for domestic use were 265,013 square metres, involving 3,968 units, and 59,694 square metres for non-domestic use. The declared cost of the new buildings totalled about $3.51 billion.

 

The month also saw the issue of five demolition consents involving five building structures. There were 2,471 complaints against unauthorised building works and 1,781 removal orders on unauthorised works.
