NT taxis operating areas to expand

*
NT taxis
Service expanded: NT taxis will serve Hang Hau MTR Station from July and Hong Kong Disneyland from August.

New Territories taxis will be able to access Hang Hau MTR Station from July and Hong Kong Disneyland from August via specified routes to tie in with the opening of taxi facilities there, the Environment, Transport & Works Bureau says.

A regulation to amend the Road Traffic (Registration & Licensing of Vehicles) Regulations Schedule 7 was gazetted today.

The Transport Department consulted the taxi trades on the revision to enable NT taxis access to Hang Hau MTR Station, Hong Kong Disneyland and the new air passenger terminal at the SkyPlaza in November last year. The NT taxi trade welcomed the move while the urban and Lantau taxi trades had no objection.

The Transport Advisory Committee and the Legislative Council Panel on Transport also supported the proposal when they were consulted on January 7 and February 2 this year.

The legislative amendment to allow NT taxis to access the new air passenger terminal at the SkyPlaza will be made after the roads connecting the new terminal have been named and gazetted, targeted to be around this year's third quarter.
