The Transport Complaints Unit received 16,299 submissions last year, up 7.8% on the 15,118 cases seen in 2003.
The major areas of concern related to public transport services (69%), enforcement matters (15%) and traffic conditions (10%).
The number of complaints and suggestions on public transport services grew 12.2% to 11,289. Among them, submissions on franchised bus services, taxi services and minibus services rose from 2,948 to 3,072, from 4,670 to 5,291 and from 2,022 to 2,483.
Cases related to residents' services and ferry services fell from 71 to 47 and from 68 to 48. The number of complaints about illegal parking and other enforcement matters rose from 2,361 to 2,438.
Traffic gripes fall
Complaints and suggestions on traffic conditions and road maintenance fell from 1,714 to 1,690 and from 515 to 458.
In the last quarter of last year, 4,236 submissions were received, down 8.1% on the 4,607 cases in the previous quarter.
The major areas of complaint and suggestions were related to public transport services (67%), enforcement matters (16%) and traffic conditions (11%).
