Advisory body backs Lantau plan

*

The Land & Building Advisory Committee supports the concept plan for the Lantau Consultation Digest. Committee Chairman Professor Yeung Yue-man said the plan will have a positive impact on Hong Kong's economic development.

At the committee's meeting today, members were briefed on the plan's consultation digest and recognised the development potential of Lantau Island.

"At the same time, members were mindful of the need for a coherent and balanced approach for the future of Lantau. They considered it necessary to strike a balance between economic development and the conservation of the island's nature and valuable cultural heritage," Professor Yeung said.

The Lantau Development Task Force, chaired by the Financial Secretary, has launched a three-month public consultation to solicit views on the Lantau concept plan. The consultation runs until February 28. For details, click here.
