Property sales up 26% in September

The number of sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration by the Land Registry in September was 8,973, up 26% on August and 30.7% on September 2003.

 

Using a 12-month moving average, the figure for September represented an increase of 1.8% over August and 54.5% on September 2003.

 

The total consideration of these agreements in the month was $24.3 billion, up 33.8% over August and 75.1% on September 2003.

 

Among the 8,973 sale and purchase agreements, 7,385 were sale and purchase agreements for residential units, up 29.2% over August and 31.1% on September 2003.

 

The total consideration of these agreements in the month was $19.5 billion, up 37.7% on August and 73.2% over September 2003.

 

Sales of residential units refer to the sale and purchase agreements with payment of stamp duty. The statistics do not include sales of units under the Home Ownership Scheme, the Private Sector Participation Scheme and the Tenants Purchase Scheme, except those after payment of premium.
