Fanling Highway to get noise barriers
*

The Highways Department has signed a $139 million contract with Leader Civil Engineering Corporation Limited and Wai Kee (Zens) Construction & Transportation Company Limited Joint Venture to retrofit noise barriers on Fanling Highway near Choi Yuen Estate and Fanling Centre.

The department said construction of the noise barriers along the verge and in the central reserve on sections of the highway will mitigate the impact of traffic noise on adjacent dwellings.

Works began last month and are expected to be completed by the end of 2005. During the construction period, there will be temporary lane closures on Fanling Highway, and arrangements will be put in place to maintain the flow of traffic.
