Residents to be consulted on modified transport plan

*

The Transport Department will conduct the second round of consultation later this month on the public transport plan upon the East Rail Extension's commissioning.

The first round of public consultation was conducted in February and March this year.

After taking into account Ma On Shan residents' concerns, it will reduce the frequency of cross-harbour bus routes plying Ma On Shan to Hong Kong Island rather than terminating them. Bus terminals may also be relocated to Admiralty to improve traffic in Central.

To ensure that the affected passengers will not be paying higher fares as a result of the change, the modified plan includes section-fare provisions and enhanced bus-bus interchange concessions on some services that are alternatives to proposed discontinued routes.

Relevant District Councils, Traffic and Transport Committees, and Area Consultative Forums will be consulted again on the modified plan from early July onwards.
