Parking meter replacement scheme to start

*
Transport Department

New Octopus Card-operated parking meters are set to replace some 16,000 e-Park card-operated meters.

The move comes under Phase II of the Parking Meter Replacement Programme which starts June 27. It will start in Central & Western District and move progressively to others. The whole replacement programme is expected to be completed by year's end.

Phase I ran from June to August last year, with new Octopus-operated meters installed at about 1,700 parking spaces in Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Happy Valley, Eastern District, Ho Man Tin, Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok and Tsuen Wan.

To inform motorists of the replacement scheme, the Transport Department has displayed messages on all e-Park card meters and e-Park cards since May.

Notices will also be placed on meters being replaced to notify motorists on the replacement date and operation of the new meters.

e-Park cards will continue to be valid and accepted for payment on e-Park card meters, until completion of the whole replacement programme.

Motorists who want refunds for their e-Park cards can go to the 23 refund outlets across Hong Kong. Click here for details.
