Potential fire hazard: Consumers should stop using "Targus" all-in-one universal plug adaptors as they have been found unsafe. |
Consumers should stop using "Targus" all-in-one universal plug adaptors as they may pose potential fire hazards and electric shock risks due to a construction defect.
The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department made the appeal today after the product's supplier, Targus International Group, found the adaptors are unsafe in a recent investigation and approached the department for the voluntary recall.
The adaptors have been in supply since November 2002. They bear the brand name "Targus" on the front panel and have a switch marked "USA/Aust/NZ", "Europe" or "UK" on the side.
They also carry model numbers beginning with PA033 followed by B, U, C, E, BX, Y001X or Y002X on the back of the packaging.
Consumers are urged to return the adaptors to the supplier through designated collection centres for a refund as soon as possible.
For enquiries, call the supplier's customer service hotline, 800 901 188.
