An agreement has been signed entrusting the design of the Western Corridor's Hong Kong-side boundary-crossing facilities to the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government.
Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee said today Hong Kong will co-operate fully with Shenzhen on the new crossing to ensure its design, facilities, construction and operation meet the technical requirements and management standards of both sides.
He thanked Shenzhen authorities for their co-operation and efforts in implementing the co-location of customs and immigration facilities at the new crossing.
Shenzhen's Executive Vice Mayor Li Decheng said in view of the implementation of the co-location arrangements, the boundary-crossing facilities of the Hong Kong side will be located in Shenzhen.
Both sides will work together to complete the construction, working on the basis of mutual trust, co-operation, respect for laws and enhanced efficiency, he said.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Secretary for Security Michael Wong and Shenzhen's Vice Secretary General and Director of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Western Corridor Project Office Tang Yaozhi.
