Gov't welcomes ideas on frontier closed area

*

Permanent Secretary for Housing, Planning & Lands Carrie Lam says the Government is open to suggestions on the use of the frontier closed area.

Speaking on radio talk shows today, she said further studies to ascertain the area's development potential are required, and the Government does not yet have any agenda on its use. People are welcome to express views on the issue.

If there is any decision to open up the area for development, the Government has to study and discuss details with the Mainland.

On the consultation on Hong Kong's future planning strategy, Mrs Lam said a number of development options have been put forth, including those on spatial development patterns.

She called on the public to voice opinions during the four-month consultation period. For details of the proposals, click here.
