The Government will approach the Society for the Protection of the Harbour Limited to see whether they can agree to any common ground in reclamation projects, Secretary for Housing, Planning & Lands Michael Suen says.
The issue will also be discussed in the Legislative Council to facilitate public understanding on the rationale of the projects.
Speaking to the media after today's Executive Council meeting, Mr Suen said the Council was briefed on the outcome of the court case. The Council noted that there is a heated public debate on reclamation.
He hoped the proactive approach will enhance public understanding and enable the Government to reply to criticisms.
Regarding the works being carried out in the harbour, Mr Suen pointed out that they are restricted to dredging, which will not cause irreparable damage to the harbour.
He also pledged that the Government will not commence any piling works at the moment.
