Preparations afoot: Permanent Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works Rita Lau says

the Government will increase cross-boundary coach services to handle a boost in Mainland tourists.

*

In view of the expected rise in Mainland tourists, the Government will increase cross-boundary coach services at Man Kam To and Sha Tau Kok boundary checkpoints.

Permanent Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works Rita Lau said today that arrangements have been made with Shenzhen authorities to increase the services.

The Government is also discussing with the KCRC the possibility of extending the operating hours of cross-boundary rail services.

Mrs Lau said an inter-departmental working group has been set up to ensure sufficient facilities and services for Mainland tourists at boundary checkpoints.

The Government will also study necessary arrangements with the tourism industry through the Commissioner for Tourism.
