The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau is seeking views on the proposal to adopt the latest safety standards for six types of children's products designated under the Toys & Children's Products Safety Ordinance.
It stipulates no-one can manufacture, import or supply a children's product unless it complies with safety standards.
The standards stipulated are mostly international ones, or those adopted in major economies. The Government watches for updates to the standards so they can be applied to the ordinance.
Some of the standards stipulated for baby-walking frames, child-safety barriers for domestic use, children's cots for domestic use, children's paints, playpens for domestic use and wheeled child conveyances have been updated. The Government proposes to adopt the latest safety standards for these products and is consulting the trade.
