Vitamin spree: Students enjoy wholesome snacks to show their support for Joyful Fruit Day 2010.
*

More than 443,000 students in 1,039 pre-primary institutions, primary, special education and secondary schools enjoyed wholesome snacks at school today to show their support for Joyful Fruit Day 2010.

Organised for the fourth year in a row, the citywide event promoted healthy eating among students, cultivating a habit of eating more fruit and vegetables through a range of tailor-made activities.

These included a fruit eating diary award and fruit parties for pre-primary school children, an online quiz game for primary students and a video competition for secondary students.

The response to this year's Joyful Fruit Day has been encouraging, with 84%, 65% and 21% of students from pre-primary institutions, primary schools (including special education) and secondary schools enrolled in the activities so far.

The public can also take part by voting for the best video at the Department of Health's EatSmart website by May 31.
