Certain batches of Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips and Hawaiian Sweet Maui Onion Rings manufactured by Tim's Cascade Snacks of Algona are suspected to be contaminated with salmonella, the Centre for Food Safety says.
The concerned products are:
* Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips - Sweet Maui Onion (code dates: Mar 09, 2010 up to and including Jun 07, 2010; 1 ounce bags-UPC 1159400116; 1.5 ounce bags-UPC 1159402213; 2 ounce bags-UPC 1159420211; 5 ounce bags-UPC 159400503; 8 ounce bags-UPC 1159410034; 18 ounce bags-UPC 1159402005; 32 ounce bags-UPC 1159403201; 2 ounce 15 packs bag-UPC 1159420211 and box-UPC 1159499007; 1.5 ounce bag-UPC 1159402213; It's Time for Tim's Variety pack, 36 counts, tray-UPC 1159436001; 70g bags-UPC 1159400704; 210g bags-UPC 1159400754; and, 908g bags-UPC 1159403201); and,
* Hawaiian - Sweet Maui Onion Rings (code dates: Mar 23, 2010 and all dates up to Jun 21, 2010; 0.75 ounce bags-UPC 1159407501; 1.5 ounce bags-UPC 1159402022; 4 ounce bags-UPC 1159440401; and, 42g bags-UPC 1159401501)
Information showed one of the affected products - Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips - Sweet Maui Onion, 2oz (57g), with a best before date 'Apr 13, 2010' and UPC code '1159420211' - was on sale in city'super chain store, which has stopped selling that product.
Salmonella is a pathogen that may cause food poisoning. The symptoms include nausea, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and vomiting, which are more severe in infants and the elderly.
The US authorities said the manufacturer concerned is recalling the products in the country. Click here for further information.
