The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of an intrauterine death involving a 28-year-old pregnant woman who had received a human swine flu vaccination.
The centre says the woman, 39 weeks pregnant and with good health history, was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital today for vaginal spotting. The foetus had no heart beat and was later confirmed dead.
The mother received the swine flu jab at a Maternal & Child Health Centre on December 21.
The centre said there is no medical evidence at this stage to suggest the death was related to the vaccination.
Investigations for common causes of intrauterine death, including infection, genetic and metabolic disorders, are ongoing.
