December ovitrap index falls to 0%
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The monthly average ovitrap index fell to 0% in December, from 1.6% in November, while that for port areas stayed at 0%.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department said today despite the 0% index levels recorded, preventive measures should not be relaxed as there are still Dengue fever cases being reported in neighbouring areas.

With the approach of the Lunar New Year, the public should make use of the year-end clean-up to conduct mosquito- prevention measures to prevent mosquito-transmitted diseases.

Travellers should take precautionary measures when visiting areas affected by mosquito-borne diseases during the Lunar New Year holiday, and seek medical advice if they have symptoms such as fever, severe headache or muscle and joint pain.
