Antiquities advisors visit Guangzhou

Members of the Antiquities Advisory Board and the Advisory Committee on Revitalisation of Historic Buildings visited Guangzhou January 11 and 12 to inspect heritage revitalisation and conservation projects there.

 

The delegation toured the Shamian Cluster which is a national heritage conservation unit listed by the State Council, the One-Thousand-Year-Old Street on Beijing Road, Jinlun Guild Hall, Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, Huang Guanzhang Mansion, Bahe Guild and the UN Bookstore to see their restoration work.

 

A forum was held with Guangzhou Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage Director Long Jiayou, officials of the Guangzhou Administration of Press, Publication, Radio & Television's Heritage Office, and Professor Tang Guohua of Guangzhou University's School of Architecture & Urban Planning to exchange views on the development of revitalisation and conservation projects in the two cities.

 

The delegates said the visit was good reference for conservation and revitalisation works in Hong Kong.
