The Leisure & Cultural Services Department invites entries for the Hong Kong Flower Show 2010 plant exhibit competition, open until February 12. Winning entries will be displayed at the show, to be held at Victoria Park from March 19 to 28.
The show's theme this year is Fairy Tales of Flowers", and its theme flower is the Cineraria.
The annual flower show promotes horticulture and the awareness of greening. The last show attracted more than 538,000 visitors and about 200 organisations from 20 countries.
The plant exhibit competition has open and school categories, and is divided into 15 sections and 92 classes. The sections include orchid, Chinese cymbidium, potted plant, cactus and succulent, foliage and carnivorous plant, African violet, bonsai-type plant, Western and Oriental floral arrangements, schoolchildren's floral art, primary and secondary school potted plant growing/nursing, and school garden plot competition.
Trophies are awarded to section winners at a prize-presentation ceremony at the show.
