Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating two gastroenteritis outbreaks affecting 39 residents and four staff members of two elderly homes in Yau Tong and Kowloon City.

The outbreak in Yau Tong involved 12 men and 11 women aged 73 to 90. They came down with gastroenteritis symptoms starting on November 23. Of them, 14 sought medical treatment and one was hospitalised. All are stable. One resident tested positive for norovirus.

Sixteen residents and four staff members aged 47 to 103 were involved in the Kowloon City case. They started having symptoms on November 22. Four were admitted to hospital. All are stable. Nine people tested positive for norovirus.

The centre has visited the two institutions and provided health advice to staff.
