Lower Ngau Tau Kok cleared
*

The clearance operation of Lower Ngau Tau Kok (II) Estate went smoothly today with successful repossession of nearly all remaining units, the Housing Department said.

More than 90% of households had earlier moved out with a few domestic and commercial tenants unable to render vacant possession. They will be given a short grace period to vacate.

A total of seven 16-storey resettlement blocks with 5,405 flats in the estate will be cleared.

Six public housing blocks will be built under the Ngau Tau Kok Redevelopment Programme, one of which will be built on the site of Lower Ngau Tau Kok (II) Estate.

The 33-storey building with 567 public housing units is expected to be completed in 2015. The remaining land is slated to be used for a public open space and a cross-district community and cultural centre.
