The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a Legionnaires' disease case involving a 55-year-old man living in Mong Kok.

He developed fever, chills and cough on October 30 and was admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital on November 4. He is now stable.

His wife developed a sore throat and runny nose on October 28 and attended an out-patient clinic. Her condition is improving. The centre referred her for further medical examination and put her under medical surveillance.

There have been 36 cases of Legionnaires' disease so far this year. Thirteen cases were reported in 2008 and 11 in 2007.
