Last East Asian Games venue opens
*

All Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games venues are ready, with the opening of the Jockey Club International BMX Park in Kwai Chung today.

The park provides local cyclists with a training and competition venue meeting international standards, not only enabling them to better prepare for the games but also spurring longer term development of the sport.

It will host the 4th Asian BMX Championships this weekend, providing an opportunity to test the efficacy of the venue, its overall operation and crowd control before the East Asian Games BMX competitions start December 5.

The park has a 350m race track and a seating capacity of 780. There is also a track for beginners.

Ancillary facilities include a canteen, toilet and shower rooms for athletes, a medical station, a doping control room and media room.
