*

Under Secretary for Home Affairs Florence Hui has called on the taxi trade to support and promote the East Asian Games, to be held in Hong Kong December 5 to 13.

Speaking at a briefing for the taxi trade today, Ms Hui said publicity material like stickers will be distributed to the trade to promote the event. Representatives of the trade said they will render full support and get prepared for the activities.

Chief Executive Officer of 2009 East Asian Games Johnny Woo briefed the trade on the venues, competition schedules and publicity programmes for the event. He also introduced the time and locations of the opening and closing ceremonies, cultural shows, the hotels of guests and athlete delegations, and discussed the media centre which will run November 23 to December 14 serving 1,700 journalists.

Location maps of the competition venues were also distributed.
