Fright light: This toy lantern has been banned from sale as it has no information on correct battery usage. |
The Customs & Excise Department has ordered four retailers to stop selling eight dangerous battery-operated toy lanterns.
One has accessible points at the end of a metal screw which poses a danger to children, while three are contained in plastic bags which pose a suffocation hazard to children.
These four models plus another four do not carry the required instructions on safe battery usage. There are also no battery polarity and voltage markings on them, while the name and address of the local manufacturers, importers or suppliers is not shown.
