A man with lung cancer and other chronic illnesses has died of human swine flu, the Hospital Authority announced today.
The 56-year-old man came down with flu symptoms on August 31 and was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital for chemotherapy on September 3. He tested positive for human swine flu on September 7 and was given Tamiflu. His condition deteriorated and he died last night.
The case has been reported to Centre for Health Protection.
There were 493 newly confirmed cases of human swine flu in the 24 hours up to 2.30pm today, involving 253 males and 240 females, aged four months to 86 years, bringing Hong Kong's human swine flu tally to 16,364.
